Fall is the perfect time to enjoy fairs, colorful scenery and great food. Mark your calendars for four fun and exciting family-friendly activities and events that are happening in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this fall.

 
State Fair of Texas – It’s that time a year again, gather your family and friends and head to the State Fair of Texas. Come celebrate all things Texan from September 29 through October 22, 2017 in Fair Park, located just two miles east of downtown Dallas. During your visit, you can enjoy an assortment of tasty treats. Three winners will be crowned in the 2017 Big Tex Choice Awards ceremony for “Best Taste – Sweet,” “Best Taste – Savory” and “Most Creative.” Don’t miss out on all the fun this fall.
 
Ticket prices at the gate range from $17 for general admission and $13 for seniors and children under 48 inches tall.* Fair Park is located at 1121 1st Ave, Dallas, Texas 75210.
 
Dinosaurs Live! – Head to the Heard Museum, located at 1 Nature Place, McKinney. Texas 75069 from September 2, 2017 through February 18, 2018 to watch dinosaurs move and roar! Encounter the 46-foot T-Rex and nine new life-size animatronic dinosaurs during your visit at this 12th year annual event. During your visit, you can learn more about the exhibit’s featured dinosaurs such as the Tyrannosaurus rex, Dilophosaurus, Therizinosaurus, Triceratops.

Plano Balloon Festival – Come out to the three-day weekend excursion dedicated to providing valuable ballooning information. This fun and exciting festival kicks off at 4pm on Friday, September 22 and runs through September 24, 2017 at Oak Point Park, located at 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX 75074. There’s fun for all ages – entertainment on multiple stages, Saturday evening fireworks, kids’ activities and skydivers. Early sign up is now available to run in one of its four races – the Half Marathon, Relay, 5K and 1K. A variety of food and merchandise vendors will be on-hand.

Enjoy an array of handmade product offerings and the incredible soaring rainbow of hot air balloons highlighted this fall. Weather permitting (subject to change); balloons are scheduled to launch Friday at 6:00pm, Saturday at 7:00am and 6:00pm, and Sunday at 7:00am and 6:00pm.
 
The general admission fee is $5 for one-time entry. There is $1 Off for Senior’s 65 and Over and Free for Kids 36″ and under. Prime Parking is $10 per car for one-time entry and Offsite Parking is $5 per car for one-time entry. Inflatable rides in the Central Market Kids Fun Zone vary in price from $1-$4.*
 
Autumn at the Arboretum – Get ready for Storybook Pumpkin Village and Hay Bale Maze! Come out and enjoy breathtaking color at every turn – over 4,500 of fall’s favorite flowers will be featured. While, the Children’s Adventure Garden is sure to be a big hit as well with the family.
 
Admission prices range from $10-18 and parking $8 (online purchase)-$15 daily.* Head out to 8525 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218, September 23 through November 22, 2017 for a fun-filled day this fall.
